Transforming a traitor to beloved father and great business partner.
The biggest thing I got out of the Landmark forum was my relationship with my father. I had resented my father for sixteen years before I did the Landmark Forum. Sixteen years ago my mum died which was painful enough but within two months of her death my father remarried. I was devastated.
There is a Chinese custom that says if your spouse dies you would have to remarry within 100 days of their death or otherwise you would have to wait for three years. I would have preferred my dad to choose the second option, but it seemed my dad could not wait for three years and chose the 100 days instead. To me, this meant that he was selfish, had betrayed my mum, betrayed my love and the other three children's love. For 16 years I treated him as he deserved, a selfish person and a traitor. I resented him and I resented my stepmother.
During the Landmark Forum I was introduced to many new distinctions and in the midst of this - suddenly I saw who my father really was. I was awakened to the fact that I had got it all wrong. He remarried so soon because he loved all my other three siblings and me. We were a young family and my dad could not leave the business to take care of a young family. My mother had worked in the family business. So the next best thing was to bring someone into the family to take care of the children. I then could see how courageous he was to do what he did. And how courageous was my stepmother to take on a young angry family like ours.
My renewed relationship with my dad has opened up new business opportunity for both of us. Because of this transformation we are now able to work together in business. I am helping him as his business partner. My current relationship with my stepmother and my father was unimaginable to me. Before I did the Landmark Forum, I never thought my life could turn out this great.
