How to catch a Gold Bachelor.
I used to be what they called in our Chinese culture that "gold bachelor", what could be translated to something like the perpetual most eligible
single guy.
I used to have quite many girlfriends around me, but I always kept them at a distance. They could only see me with their longing and admiration, but no one really could cross the line to have me …
Who knows how long it would have gone on like that. But I got lucky, in 2004, I went to a course called the Landmark Forum, and I got quite an unexpected result …
In the Landmark Forum they spoke about the incompletion of the past. I realized, that even though my former girlfriend and I broke up years ago, I still had something I wanted to say but left unsaid, and I had some questions left unanswered. It seemed as time went by, all this faded away, except for one thing, I was afraid to ever really love again.
So, I rang her in London. She was a bit surprised. After the greetings, I asked, "I heard from others but never asked you to confirm this. Maybe everything is now in the past and not important any more, however I need to know …. When we broke up, it was not just because of the long distance, but was because of 'him', right?!"
She didn't answer.
I said, "It doesn't matter. I just want to know what happened." Then she started to tell me all kinds of things that she never told me before. But the most incredible thing, I wasn't angry and I didn't blame her. Instead, I experienced a sense of peace and calm, like, I could see the dusts settled down on floor. I said, "You didn't do anything wrong. And I wasn't anything inadequate. It was just what happened." Then we chatted for a long while, like two old friends catching up after a long while apart…
Soon after that, unexpectedly, I met the lovely Bel at my friend's birthday party. But strange as it might be to me, I was not afraid this time… We fell in love and since then have the most awesome relationship. That is the most unthinkable result that I got from the
Landmark Forum. But who cares, right? I am just so profoundly grateful that I didn't miss the best and the most beautiful half of my entire life…
