Landmark Forum in Manila, the Philippines.
Aug 15, 16, 17, 19, 2008

Arvy Villamarzo

At Peace and Fearless to Share What Is True.

Before the Landmark Forum, I was a bit of a recluse. I didn't talk to people because I felt that everyone was just out to judge me in some way. This showed up in several areas of my life. At work, I was the silent worker. I would just do my work but I wouldn't really talk about it with anyone. At home, I was very secretive. I would just show up at home to sleep, and I was out most of the time.

In the Landmark Forum, I saw just how resigned I was to living this way for the rest of my life. I saw how limited and restrictive it was and gave that up. Now, as one of the benefits of having taken the Landmark Forum, I enjoy talking to people, and not just small talk to pass the time, but the kind of talk that nurtures relationships and creates results. I love to hear people tell me how impressed they are by this transformation!

I would say that the biggest breakthrough that I got from the Landmark Forum is in the area of family relationships. I'm at peace with who I am, and I am at peace in letting my family know who I am and what I'm up to. I used to be so afraid to be close to my family because I thought they'd disapprove of me if I tell them everything about me, but now I know that they love me even though they know everything about me. I love this new fearlessness to be truthful and to share.

When I write this, I work as the head of the operations department of a call center in the Philippines. A lot of people in our company have done the Landmark Forum and working here is just so much fun. If we do encounter issues, we just all go back to the many unique distinctions of Landmark’s education and resolve them without a fuss.

Each week I spend a few hours as one of the people who assist with Landmark Education in Manila. As an Introduction Leader I love to contribute such that people walk out with a new possibility for their lives and eager to taste transformation, in contrast with how they walked into the room with all the invisible filters and constraints that limited who they could be. As people leave the room with a new passion for their lives. I am left with awe to see that transformation is happening in my country, right before my eyes.

As I look back to the relevant breakthrough results that I have accomplished beginning from my first participation with the Landmark Forum in Manila and continued with many other Landmark Education courses and leadership program; I can not help myself to thank all the people who have done and continue to do so much to make Landmark Education available to us in Asia and in the Philippines specifically. I acknowledge and appreciate Aljor Perreras for his leadership and care of all of us at Landmark Education Philippines.

What I love about Landmark Education is the way it makes transformation so accessible to so many people. In the old days, people were not even talking about transformation. A select few chose to visit the mountains of Tibet or the ashrams of India to see what the supposedly enlightened people were doing, but in Manila transformation happens right in the heart of the city.

As I wrote my personal account I was aware of the stories I read at the pages of this website. All over Asia and beyond, the people who assist and Landmark communities are making something unprecedented happen. It is quite an exciting time for me to participate with Landmark Education at the dawn of this new future for our world and humanity.

If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for a passionate sense of what might be, for the eye, which ever young and ardent sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints, possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what so intoxicating as possibility! Søren Kierkegaard.
